Join us at the Georgia Archives in Morrow, Ga. on Saturday, June 10th for our 2nd Quarterly Meeting Education Series: The 2nd Annual Summer Genealogy Picnic!
Caroline Crowell and Allison Hudgins, both Reference Archivists from the Georgia Archives, will focus on the archive's new online catalog and research tips using the manuscript collections. Joanne Smalley, GGS member, will give a presentation from the perspective of a researcher.
Caroline Crowell earned her Master’s in Library Studies and Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia’s School of Library, Archival, and Information Studies. She began working for the Georgia Archives in 2014 and in her spare time she like to sew, does archery, and uses esoteric Georgia knowledge to win her weekly trivia game!
Allison Hudgins is originally from Macon and earned her MLIS from Valdosta State University. Before coming to the Georgia Archives, Allison worked for several years in the Cobb County Library System.
Joanne Smalley worked at the Georgia Archives for over 30 years and is now retired. She is the Historian/Archivist for the Georgia Genealogy Society.
The event lasts all day from 9:45am to 5pm with time for individual research from 3-5 with the assistance of the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
Pike County Historical Society, Cobb County Genealogical Society, and more will have tables set up to sell books and materials before and afterwards!
The event is free and open to the public! A traditional summer sandwich lunch will be available for a donation.
