IGHR Volunteers 2017
Volunteers are needed to help in planning, organizing and carrying out a great IGHR in Georgia for 2017. It will be a lot of work, and we need proactive people who will take ownership of their tasks and work cooperatively with many others to make sure that the expectations of attendees and faculty are met or exceeded with the move to Georgia.
Work for 2017 is to begin immediately, so if you want to get in at the beginning, read the committee descriptions and fill out the volunteer form and send it in ASAP. Volunteers may want to shadow the Samford staff at IGHR coming up in June 12 – 17, so we need to know what you want to do and if you are planning to come to Birmingham, AL. Only three courses for 2016 are totally full at this point: Advanced Methodology and Evidence Analysis, Intermediate Genealogy and Historical Studies, and Metes & Bounds & Land Plats. For more information on IGHR 2016 go to http://samford.libguides.com/ighr
There is a link to a draft Committee list, and committees will be added, as will the tasks and jobs for each committee as needed and identified. Read the committee list and descriptions and decide what you want to work on. There is also a volunteer application that you can fill out after reading the committee descriptions. Please email to Laura W. Carter, IGHR Director at ighr [at] gagensociety.org. Or, you can mail to Laura W. Carter, Director 3710 Barnett Shoals Road Athens, Georgia 30605-4712.
Thanks for considering offering your time and energy.
