GGS 60TH ANNIVERSARY!
60TH ANNIVERSARY INITIATIVES
Impact of GGS
Do you have a special memory of a GGS event that affected your research efforts? Or has someone in GGS helped you to break down a brick wall in your family tree? What being a member of GGS has meant to you?
We’d like to know about how GGS has made a difference in your hunt for your Georgia ancestors.
Surname Registration
In the early years of the GGS Journal (formerly Quarterly), members were encouraged to register the family surnames they were researching in Georgia for inclusion in the Journal and possible connections with fellow GGS members researching the same ancestors. Now you can do the same! Submit your surnames of interest and family mysteries online to be included in the Journal, starting with the June issue.
Genealogy @ the Archives
The 60th anniversary celebrations kicked off during the in-person Genealogy @ the Archives event on Saturday, June 1, from 9 AM – 3:30 PM ET at the Georgia Archives. Robert Scott Davis presented several genealogy-focused presentations, and Robin Klemm, Outreach Archivist for the Georgia Archives, led a behind-the-scenes tour.
